I think the HDR only benefitted the last photo. The others seem too un-contrasty.

I think that last one looks great!

I much prefer the second one. It looks fairly natural, as does the first. The third looks far too artificial and gimmicky for my taste. I guess that it depends on whether or not you look on HDR and tone mapping as a method of representing a scene with a high brightness range in a natural way, or if you look on it as an effect.

Whichever you prefer, you've made a good start.

Best,
Helen

number 1 seems too mono-tone. I like 2 and 3. 2 has a nice natural quality, though it could benefit from a nice contrast boost. 3 has some very nice, striking color in it.

Thank you all for taking a look at my pics....

RKW3 and Old Navy...Yes i agree they are not so contrasty...but after playing and taking them to the extreme...to my eyes i prefered them this way...maybe should be just called tone mapped even though i did them in a HDR program...

Colow91...Glad you like it...lucky to live here..... in Summer thare are lots of nice boats around to shoot!!!

Helen....I think HDR is in the eye of the beholder...sometimes as in the first two i just wanted a nice color boost and bring more life into the photos...some photos cry out for much more contrast as i flt the last one did...

Amhoteric....I have taken on board your comments and will play a bit more when i have time....

Thank you all for your comments...was a little nervous to post as i am new to this forum...feel more confident now!!!
