Hey everybody.

I would just like a little advice on getting eyes really sharp and in focus. I put this on my C&C thread but none has responded to that part. Should I be shooting at higher F stop say around F7 or something so the eyes are more in focus?

Thanks

:)

I use a prime lens, single point focus, move that over the primary eye that I want to focus, and give the focus light a second before taking the shot. If the eyes are not at the same distance, relative to the camera, then I use a smaller aperture to make sure both are focused.

YMMV. :D

Oh great thanks aswell! Yeah I typically use a 50mm but always get stuck using a very shallow Dof which doesn't help the eye problem! :)

Use a hight SS # like. 1/125. Focus on the eyes. You know the little red square press half of the shutter and all the way down.sorry not so good explaining but hope helps.

If the DOF is shallow, then the nose will also be out of focus. lol

Yeah I have noticed that! I am just such a sucker for F1.8 but now I am getting more serious with my photography I want to produce better results so need to get out of the habit of doing that! :)

I have a Nikkor 50mm f1.8D and I rarely shoot at f1.8. It's just too soft in general. I typically shoot at f2.5 minimum, but that's also just personal preference. It's digital, get out and give it a shot (pun intended). lol

Great I shall go out and experiment tomorrow with a higher F stop :) DO you ever manually focus?

Only with my macro lens or when I have time in the studio to do it, which I don't do either one enough.

I am thinking maybe to try doing it, I guess that is another skill to learn! :)
