Getting into the Xmas spirit! - C7C please!

I want your honest opinions about this shot; I tried very hard to salvage this shot (I really liked it!), and would like your opinions as to how well I did...

The shot is taken with a Sony SLT-A77V and a SAL-1680Z Zeiss lens at a focal length of 28mm, with an f-stop of 4.5, 1/60th of a second exposure, and ISO 100.



Anyway, I hope you like it! Feel free to critique it; my intention is to get better!

They very cute children and it's a nice shot. You want to brighten them up and remove an orange color cast. Then just a slight contrast increase. Like this:

EDIT: Oops! I did that late last night and missed a step when I posted the photo -- I fixed it today about noon.

My monitor is not even close to being calibrated (at the time, due to budget constraints, I am using a Sony 32" LCD TV, the lowest series, which is not even Full HD), but in this monitor, it seems a bit too cold. I think I rather preserve a bit of he warm feel about it (but you are right, there was TOO much color cast in the original!) How about something like this?



I put a bit more blue in the mid tones and the highlights, did a curve to bring a little contrast out, and added a little fill light... So, better?

EDIT: For some reason, the small size looks a lot darker than the larger size!

Yes you don't want their faces to be darker than the lights in the foreground or the lights will be too distracting
