Girl on the phone - A Photo Essay

Girls in Asia are attached to their phones, and they probably take more photos per day than any of us - and not only selfies.

But when doing portraits I usually ask my partner to put her phone down, although after surgically removing her phone, I've then created an 'unnatural' image - as her phone is as much a part of her visual character as her hair, shoes or smile.

So I looked through my travel photos to find some more 'natural' images of her to create a series (hope it's not too many).

Fuji X-T2 with 18-135 'travel zoom' or 35mm prime lens.

As a set these make a great commentary on how attached some people are to their phones. Going along with that theme, My favorites are the ones where you can see the screen of the phone.

A very good set and I also like the ones with the screen showing. Sadly here in town many people have been knocked down by cars and buses while walking across the road with their heads in their mobile phones.

Yes, I like the 'picture in a picture' effect too. I caught it by accident taking some casual shots while she was playing with my 'spare' camera.

Nice. I really like how the images are composed or cropped so you almost alternate the focus between the phone and the girls face.

Take a snapshot of people in a shopping mall in Colombia (and probably elsewhere) these days and most of the people in it will be looking at a cel phone. Could easily be a scene from a science fiction movie from the 1950s.
