I shot this during my first visit to Laos in 2003. Shot on Fujicolour 200 film with Nikon F90X/ Nikkor 35-105mm.

We were waiting to cross the Mekong by ferry in Champasak province. In the village along the river, someone must have had a wood lathe, this girl was selling the products. She asked me to buy something for exchange for a photo. I bought a set of eggcups and salt and pepper shakers which I still have. Total cost around four dollars.

I didn't bother to haggle considering she was only too pleased to pose for a photo. Eleven years ago now, I wonder what she is doing today?
