I agree completely with his general philosophy. It’s true that in the text-speak generation, using anything beyond the absolute bare minimum in symbols and short-forms to convey an idea is more likely to be viewed as obnoxious than respectable. Luckily, I have no problem with the idea of people thinking I’m obnoxious.

He’s pretty much right about the most vocal nit-pickers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not immune to gritting my teeth at misplaced apostrophes, “would of” in place of “would’ve”, etc., but there’s rarely any point in saying anything about it when you encounter it. The worst has to be the people on Facebook who are constantly posting status updates about how they are tired of “dealing with stupid people” and other such vague nonsense. The implication, of course, is that they’re “really smart”, but at least half the time, there is a spelling or grammar error in their message. A recent example I saw went something like “I’m so tired of dealing with idiots, pretty soon I’m going to need a labotomy.”

I have to admit, in that case, I slipped in with a:

This shows the need for a few commas!! (patient malnourished, still not eating, diarrhea)

I'm always surprised by the number of people who call someone else a looser. Not sure what a looser is, but apparently, it's looked down on.
