Gratuitus Moon shot

Very cool shot of an otherwise overdone subject. It works great in the context of the starry sky.

Alright that's either multiple frames or the stars are fake.... or both. Which is it?

It looks cool but the stars being fuzzy while the moon is so sharp makes it look a little off.

Dude! You have a ton of hot pixels!!!

But seriously, this is two shots merged, right? What were your settings for the stars?

Yes, it's 2 exposures :D

Lonely moon shots are....well, lonely!

The stars are over processed and low res from another shot, I just slapped it together this morning in a rush. I was trying to get the moon over the horizon but by the time it was at the right angle the sun was lighting the sky too much. I'm too lazy to really go out at 3am and stage my shots :D

Glad you like it!

There's a star really close to the terminator at about the moon's 2 o'clock that looks like it might be a little too close - in reality this would have been hidden by the shaded side of the moon. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it wouldn't block out the stars behind it. :)

[bangs head] Doh! :-P

i like how the moon came out, i can never get it right my self.

handheld shot off my back porch with the 70-200@200mm. Manual exposure, f8@1/250

Compared to previous experience with the 70-300 f4.5-5.6 the 70-200 is a world sharper with better color character (term?).

Thanks!

Thank. Ever notice that even NASA's moon pics are void of stars? I always felt there should be. :)

Nicely done. This one one of the most interesting moon shots I've seen because of the stars.

I seriously remember seeing exactly like this several times recently but I didn't have the chance because I still don't have my dslr. lol
This one is nice though because of those lil stars around xD

Thank you. I cannot take credit for originality, this is only my rendition of it ;)
