This is a great series as it shows the entire event..sans him gulping it down, which I find nearly as amazing as the catch.. Were you shooting about 6 frames per second? I like how even at 1/1600 at ISO 1000, 2.8 with the D800 the grain is barely noticeable.

im sure it can be fixed a lot more too. i didnt spend too much time editing them. i will probably pick one and make it look really nice. do the magnetic lasso tool, to select the heron, and select inverse and reduce noise. then inverse sharpen, but starting from a fresh image.

funny, seems as 1/1600 of a second was not fast enough for the first image, seems a little soft. i guess they dive fast.

i was shooting 4 FPS, and i have a lot more images too of this series, that i didnt include. i never find 4 FPS not enough

I like the capture expression in the last of this series. I think I would like more foreground but only marginally so.

Holy crap! A great blue doing a Belly Flop! Now that is cool. It looks pretty sharp to me, looks like you caught the nictitating membrane closed. I really love 1 and 3! I like the pose on #8. Really awesome series, thanks for sharing!
