It's wonderful that you were able to see this little group, let alone get such a nicely composed shot like this. Mama is in front of the chicks, and the pretty little nest is behind them.

Terrific shot!

Nice capture. Can you say a little bit on how you got it. Lens? How close you had to get?
The mama and chicks were right off the boardwalk. Easy shot. I used a Nikon D500 with a 80-400 at 80mm and even then I had to back up a piece.

What good luck for you! They must be used to people being around.

There is a green heron around here but it is pretty skiddish and I have yet to get any good shots.

It is cool to see a shot of chicks like that since it is such a rare sight even if they do look like extras from Jurassic Park.
