What's new

Green Heron.

Very nice shot.

They are incredibly fun to watch and photograph. Highly animated at times. Almost like a cartoon character.

Very nice shot Trevor.
Thank you.

Yes they can be fun.
Tonight they were calling from a tree that was backlit and let me walk right under them....right until I was on the correct side of the light. Then they moved to the next back lit tree. lol

Sounds about right. Lol. I've been having a ball with these guys for the last week or so. Some are very skiddish. Others have let me get within 10' of them. Even when hunting for fish. One evening I didn't see any. Then turned the corner and one was in a tree. It was kind enough to let me get pictures.

Nice! I going to go up your way again this weekend to see if I can get more shots of them.

Thank you.
We have two on McKinnon road near the end as well there are quite a few in Tiny Marsh.
Hit me up if you come up on Sat as I'll likely be free to shoot.

Sounds good. The one I took was at the end of McKinnon. Remember I texted you on the weekend saying I was shooting a Least Bittern? Well that Green Heron was the Least Bittern LOL! For some reason I was expecting the Green Heron's to be about the size of a Night-heron so took it for a Bittern.

Thank you.

Ya I didn't colour correct this one as much as I normally do. Probably because I wasn't editing in my normal location.

My 7Dmk2 tends to favour blue.

Here's a more natural colour.

I have not seen anywhere near the number of herons or egrets this year as last. I only saw my first 2 Egrets of the year a week or two ago. Guess all the rain we've had doesn't appeal to them either. Good catch.

It's just starting to pick up in my area.
When the water is deeper they have more options in the marsh where I can't see them.
