Photos NOT OK to edit
Hey everyone! My name is Michele and I am a photographer in Palm Beach, Florida. I found this site while perusing the interwebs and thought I would join. I love photography and everything related. I shoot portraits part time (boring desk job during the week) and am trying to expand my knowledge base. I think shooting nothing but people for a year has given me a bit of creative constipation. I want to start shooting for me.

I also wanted to test out the world of film photography. I purchased a Canon EOS A2 along with some color & b/w film which should be arriving by the end of the week. I feel there is a confidence that comes with shooting film. No chimping and redoing that shot you just screwed up. You have to get it right the first shot, not the 42nd. Definitely going to be picking brains about that since I have NO IDEA what I am getting into. I think the last time I touched a film camera was about 15 years ago when I purchased a disposable Kodak.

I might get paid to take portraits, but I am a novice at heart who is looking to learn anything and everything I possibly can. I hope to flood the forums with comments, questions and critique requests in the near future as well as make lots of new friends! I look forward to meeting all of you! ;)

Film shooters didn't necessarily get everything right on the first shot, though they might want you to believe they did, but welcome to the forum. Understanding light and a light meter, it's not difficult getting exposure right on the first shot. What's difficult is getting pleasing angles when you can't see through the viewfinder or experimenting, and that's where digital helps.

Welcome to the forum Michelle.

Welcome to the site.

Welcome, I lived in South Florida for 5 years. In Pompano Beach, I loved it and hope to go back one day!

Welcome, I'm over on the Gulf side, Naples.

As a surviving relic of the good old film days, I can tell you that it is overrated; I wouldn't go back for love nor money, but I still shoot 120/220 and 4x5 so my hand's still in it. Would MUCH prefer to sit at my desk working with Photoshop and sipping iced tea than in the darkroom with the smell and hands in chemistry.

Welcome to the party, from one Michele to another!
