Grey Heron...probably tired

[Kenneth Walker]

......on account of me getting so close. Alternatively the bird is clever enough to realise I couldn't get closer without a swim. (on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal)

Nice!

[DarkShadow]

Nice shot!

I have seen Grays up in the Okeefenokee Swamp but never down my way (NW Florida). Something of a cross between a Great Blue and a Tricolor almost. Nice shot.

Thanks chaps....bearing in mind the beast needs good clean water and lots of fish, we must be doing something right, since this is fairly close to Reading. Here's one of a juvenile (couldn't get quite so close) in a very small reserve, twixt the local dump (sorry, I mean "civic amenity recycling centre") and a sewage treatment works.
