a bit of pp was done here, but is there any way to make the originals come out like this? (a little desaturated w/ more contrast?)

It much depends on what you work with and what your settings are - my compact camera offers me a couple of parametres that will give me a "normal" or a "neutral" or a "vivid" or a "low sharpening" picture when I use the camera in the P mode.

The DSLR can be set to other pre-determined (by me) parametres, but those only apply when I shoot .jpg, not RAW. When I shoot RAW and set everything manually, it is up to me in the end to decide how saturated and how contrasty I want the photo to be, but then shooting in RAW means I have to take this extra step in the RAW converter programme to decide on these things for each and every photo I have taken.

yes, she's all grown up, and she runs all the time. we have a big backyard where she runs all around with my golden retriever. =)
