HDR hints please

Despite taking photos for many years, I have never tried HDR, and would like to give it a go. There seems to be a massive array of tutorials and software out there. Can anyone guide me to the ones that are worth reading, and which software is worth using?

At the bottom of this site there are links to two other sites where he follows up on his dicsussion. You could also look at some of the work by Trey Ratcliff, e.g., Met Exclusive: Trey Ratcliff's 9 HDR Tips - My Modern Metropolis

As far as software is concerned, I have tried CS5, Photomatix and Nik's HDR Efex Pro and I prefer the Nik Software product. It comes with a very good set of presets and its u-point technology makes customization fairly easy. I do know that a lot of folks prefer Photomatix. You can download both and try them for a 15 days for free and then see which one you prefer. HTH.
