You cant just upload raw files noob. Click your link and see what I mean. Convert them to jpeg and post them again.

Given that it's HDR, there are parts completely blacked out in shadow. Which is weird. This thing looks to have the dynamic range of a normal dSLR shot. It also seems really out of focus.

There's no reason to be condescending Joe..

C&C: Subjects are too distant, under-exposed.

and there's no need for retailiation. Joe is correct that we cannot DL the RAW images, all I get is code.

Right click on the link, and choose "save as." Works for me.

Yeah, I tried. Only let's me save as HTML...

I think the issue is that some people won't have an extension that allows them to use canon RAW files (CR2 files are specific to Canon), so for instance if somebody shoots nikon and uses Nikon's proprietary softward to decode RAW, their computer is going to have no idea what to do with the RAW files you linked. I could open them, because I use Aperture to decode RAW files and it is pretty good about having almost all cameras' RAW decoding files. But a lot of people don't do it that way and couldn't do anything with these photos.

Also, realize that a lot of the issue is that YOU didn't give enough info in the OP. We had no idea that the top photo was the normally exposed jpeg. You didn't tell us what format the RAW images were in, you didn't tell use what you had in mind for us to do with them.

YOu threw up a picture and some links and expected people to just know what they were and what to do with them. More info is your friend and keeps you from getting hostile responses.

I apologize. I did, however, expect that people would kinda get the idea, considering the title "HDR shootout" has been used for this purpose so many times in the past, and from all the ones I've participated in, it was RAW files that were posted, be it CR2 or NEF. Perhaps next time I will convert them to 16bit TIFF. However, the condescending remarks that people on this forum spout out at people all the time, are completely uncalled for. I'm sorry if I have offended people, and ruined someone's day by starting this thread.

It's not a big deal, and if you had just stated something like 'sorry I didn't make it clear, blah blah blah' everything probably would have been fine. I agree DiskoJoe probably went too far, but escalating things by getting defensive only ruins the thread.

There are some variations on the HDR shootout theme, and I'd say a lot of the one's I've seen the OP gave their first shot at it, ie the first image would have been their attempt at HDR with the source files, not the normally exposed JPEG. Ive seen some where 4 images were given, the HDR and the three source images, etc. It's definitely not uniform enough to where you can just toss up links and everybody gets it, as if by magic. Even if it were uniform, who knows if they're seeing that format for the first time? Explanation is needed, probably every time.

Put the files in a .zip file, and upload the .zip.

I had n clue :D

Yes, tiff files! Let's try again :)

I am uploading the tiff files. The file is quite large, and will take a while. In the mean time, here is my go at it. I already know that it is horrible, and believe me, it doesn't have to be pointed out... which is why I wanted to see what others could do with it, and hopefully learn.

I wouldn't say that you know it's horrible. If you're a beginner at this, then it takes time to develop it. I kind of just started doing HDR myself and I have a lot to learn but I have seen that with each shoot I see myself getting better. What you've posted is your starting point. There are some jerks on here that post replies that aren't constructive and just plain mean, but filter that stuff out and just look at the good advice. There are definitely way more good people on here than bad. Just keep practicing and getting better.
