There are so many halos in your work that I feel compelled to kneel down and start praying.

Seriously, try smoothing out the highlights. The halos are very, very distracting. Also, the composition in both of these leaves a lot to be desired. In the first shot, my eye is drawn to the house in the background. Is there something which kept you from getting the entire plane in the frame? In the second, the plane behind the subject, compositionally, doesn't need to be there.

But the halos. Brutha', ya' gotta' do something about those halos...

Was there really enough dynamic range in this shot to necessitate and HDR?

Yep. I don't see a high dynamic range scene that would require using the HDR technique either.

The halos and dark gray areas in the sky are all earmarks of an overcooked HDR.
Some people like that overcooked look.

and some people like that instagram look.

Beautiful aircraft! Terrible processing choice! Not really fond of the composition, either!
