Helios 44m stiff focus ring

My m42 to eos adapter came in today so I tried out my with Helios 44m on my 350d. I'm very impressed, the bokeh on this thing is beautiful . My only issue is the focus ring is a tad too stiff and it makes focusing much harder. I'm not sure if I want to attempt dissembling the lens just yet. Anyone know of any easy fixes that do not require dissembling? I've heard that one or two drops of lighter fluid can help but I have no idea where on the lens to put it. I already tried warming it up and rotating the focus ring back and forth many times.

Also, this is off topic but is it possible to have focus confirmation without holding down the shutter button half way? I find it hard to focus while pressing the button at the same time(maybe it's just my stiff focus ring).
