Hello all from a first timer

Hi all,

I am a true Photography newbie, i have very little idea of how to take a good shot and i was hoping for some help and guidance on my route to amateur photography..

Truth be told i have always admired seeing other peoples beautiful photos but never though the investment would be worth it, but i took the plunge and bought a canon 500d with the 18-55mm kit lens and a canon 70-300mm lens to get me started.

I am going on safari later this year so i am hoping in the next few month i am able to pick up some basic techniques so that i can capture some decent moments whilst in africa..

Is this the place to post my stupid questions or elsewhere?

I am new also... I have posted nothing but stupid questions and everyone has been quite friendly and helpful... I am sure your experience would be the same.
