I was just searching for a photography forum and found this one. I just got into photography about a year ago and bought a simple point and shoot digital camera (Minolta X20 - don't laugh!). I'm going to buy a 6.0 MP camera today (Casio QV-R61) because my old camera's images are soft and I'd like better quality ones. I hope I can join in the photography here on the forum. Is anyone else here the same as me, in that they don't have one of those big, expensive cameras? Anyone have a Casio QV-R61, if so, what do you think of it?

Howdy & Welcome to the forum!
It really doesn't matter what kind of camera you have. Most of the actual work of taking a picture comes from the eye of the photographer!

Welcome in chrism.

One reason I like this place so much is nobody rates you on the camera you use. :D
Enjoy your stay.

I assumed everyone on here has a professional photographer's SLR or something and I've got a 6 MP P&S.

Is it not considered to be less professional and not as good a photographer if a point and shoot camera that selects the settings automatically is used?

Some of the people here do pinhole photography - I've made a few pinhole cameras from shoeboxes myself.
It's not what you use, it's how you use it. We'd still like you if you used a disposable ;-)

 Pinholes rank slightly above disposables!

I thought that was implied

I am some what new to photography and have worked with a "point n shoot", 1mp for about two years. I just recevied a Canon powershot pro 1 for Christmas since I was having trouble getting the picture I wanted with a "full auto" camera. But I still got some good photos with a simple camera! I joined this forum in hopes to progress in photography. I'm glad I found this forum! I'm still reading the User Guide for the thing!

Chrism: Don't worry if you have a low end camera, you can still get good pictures! And you don't have to worry with the headache-inducing features, bells and whisles with a SLR! :D

Welcome to the forums Chrism. This is the perfect place for people of all levels. One of the nicest places on the internet. :)
