Hello all, I am a Nikon D90, and D7000 user. I learned most of what I know with film back when cameras were very simple to understand, configure and use. With the increased versatility of digital, comes increased complexity, and endless possibilities.
I do have some of Nikons finest lens, and a few from Tokina, and one from Sigma. I am interested in expanding my horizons in photography.

I'm looking forward to spending some time reading in the forums.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the site.

Welcome! I have family in Florida and visit on a fairly regular basis. It's a great place for a photographer to live!

Yes, I have to agree, Florida is home to some of the most beautiful things life has to offer. Everything from manatees, and sailboats, to marsh lands, swamps, and beaches, and all the wild life that goes along with each. If beautiful skylines, as in sunsets, sunrise, storm fronts, and the most beautiful cloud formations floats your boat, we never have two that are the same. I took my D90 and a bunch of stuff to go with it, into the grand canyon on a hike. The mistake was that it weighed 35 pounds. I was in good shape, but coming from living at sea level my entire life, the thin air made that hike a real challenge. I did get a lot of great pictures though. I only wish I had more experience before I went on that trip. I'm looking into possibly buying a 24mm PC lens, but I try to do a lot of research before I spend that kind of money. Do you know much about using a PC lens?

You know I owned a couple of film cameras back in the golden age of film - I don't remember them as ever being easy to use or configure.. lol. But hey, welcome to the forum. Lol

Welcome Joe, Im from CT so no posting beautiful beach shots, palm trees, you in shorts n a tee shirt, colorful drinks with umbrellas etc...

Haha, welcome to the forum!

All I remember was to set the iso of the film, then manipulate the shutter speed and aperture ring for desired exposure. The DOF was printed on the lens so I could get some idea of what I was going to get. The light meter gave a good estimate of how well my fist two settings were going to do. Now I compare that to what I have to work with a DSLR like my D7000. The filters are programmable, the ISO can be changed on the fly, and can be different for each picture, I get RAW and JPG at the same time, and the RAW file needs to be processed on a computer instead of a dark room, and the list goes on. So it is only my opinion that cameras are much more complicated than they use to be.
