My name is Paul, and I have been messing around with photography for a few years now. It all started after I got into video production, which is actually my day job.
At first I spent a lot of time worrying about all of the technical aspects of photography, as well as what equipment I owned. I had reached out on another site (dpreview.com) for some help, and got very negative reaction to my want to do portraiture without a fancy setup. This put me off of photography for about a year (out of the 2-3 I've been interested) until I finally purchased a "pro" lens. After comparing it to what I owned, I returned it because in all honesty, it wasn't really much better than what I already owned.
Since then I have stopped participating in the forums on dpreview and I've gone back to just taking pictures and not worrying what camera or lens I have. I've found this to be a lot more satisfying, and I'm back into shooting all the time. After that I realized that you don't need anyone's reassurance that you're using the right tools for the job, as long as they get the job done for you. this has really helped me with a lot of things.
I wanted to join this forum to get ideas and feedback on my work, and to help others understand that equipment isn't everything.
At this time I don't really have an online gallery, but you can check out my Facebook page, which I upload my favorite shots to.

Hopefully I can contribute and continue learning on this forum!
