Hi! My name is Rufus. I have been taking photos for years but I still consider myself a novice. I have mostly been a point and shoot person. My last camera was a Nikon D80, which recently died. I took advantage of the recent Nikon sale and replaced it with a D810. I know I jumped into the deep end of the pool before I learned to swim but I couldn't pass it up. I really want to learn how to use this camera so any help would be appreciated. I love photographing landscapes, my dogs, people and vintage cars.

Welcome. Deep end? There is no reason anyone should not buy top end gear due to their experience. Most of the time it's budget constraints. D810 will be a great camera to learn with.
