Hello everyone,

I am a new member. I came here because I've taken on a huge task of scanning our family photos and backing up all the digital photos. Has anyone else here done this?

Welcome to the forum. Yes, I do scan photos, some very old, and regularly back up digital images mostly on external hard drives (both rotating and SSD) as well as thumb drives and even DVDs. I use an Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner to scan prints and both negative and positive film. It has worked very well for me for many years now. The attached image is a scan of my grandparents wedding picture over 100 years old now. Most of the time, prints, especially old prints, require a lot of patience in Post Processing.
