I am wanting t get a digital camera. Nothing fancy but takes good photos. It needs to be fairly quick as my 4yr old son cant sit still long and will be mostly used to take pics of him. Small enough to fit in my pocket would also be a bonus. The camera I have now takes 3 or 4 secs to take and thats about 2 to 3 seconds to long.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

You'd have to get a bulky DSLR camera if you want the best results. Even with the point-and-shoot cameras with manual controls would still be limited, just because of the shutter lag that still plagues P&Ss these days.

If you're on a budget, I recommend you get the Canon Rebel XT (or 350D, if you're outside the States), and the 50mm f/1.8.
