wall where the night light was on (head board wall) is dark pink
other walls are light pink

Nikon D90
lens avail: kit 18-55, 35mm 1.8, 70-210mm, 11-16 2.8

Questions:
How do I light this
What would make a better background
strategies to get the ISO down, although I kind of like the grainy look

are you shooting raw or jpeg? If your shooting raw, you will have to pp the noise out because the camera applies no noise reduction to a raw file.

I assume you're trying to keep the color of the light from the nightlight, adjust the white balance to however you like it. Grab that 35mm 1.8 and fill the frame with her face, try different angles and remember to fill the frame. Even though the background will be blurry, keep in mind whats back there, maybe there are some LEDS somewhere that will create some nice bokeh or something
