Help... need to restore faded images

Hello,

I am a beginner photographer at best. So please bear with me...

I have to take pictures of labels at work. Most of the time the label print is dark enough to read. However sometimes the label has faded at it is hard to see the print. Is there any way to take a picture/label and enhance it some how so the dark print will show up better?

I attached a sample below.. as you can see one label is nice and crisp, the other has been faded. The faded label has print on it and I can see it when I physically look at it, but in the picture, no one can see the print.

Any idea why soem labels fade and some do not? They rarely see sunlight so I know the sun is not fading them..

Differing wavelengths of light; IR, UV, etc would be my best guess.

^^^ That. Try a blacklight, they're cheap.
