Help needed lightening photo background

Hi!

This is a fantastic site. I can easily waste a day looking at the photos and reading the articles.

I need a little help. I did my best to take a passport picture of my 19 day old daughter with her in her crib on a white sheet with plenty of light. I managed one good photo out of about 4 dozen taken. Unfortunately, it is a bit dark with a decent shadow. Is there a way to fix this, or better yet, anyone here willing to help me edit this photo to correct the picture so it will be accepted by the passport office?

They may still reject it as I'm not sure of their exact requirements, however this is as close as I think you're going to get with the photo you've provided. It wasn't the best quality to start with and my edit reflects that.

Thank you so much for this! It meets the criteria of the passport office. By the time I print it for passport purposes, I am sure it will be fine. How do I download the picture?

Right click on it and click "save as."
