Help Needed

My Nikor extension tubes arrived today, so it's test and learn time. I'm using a D70S camera body, and a 18-70 AF-S lens. I attached the 11A tube to the lens, then the lens/tube to the body. I'm also using a DR-6 right angle finder, so I can't see the info line in the viewfinder. Setting the camera to Aperture mode, I can't set the f stop, as all I get is two blinking lines on the screen on the top of the camera. Tried manual, and the same thing happens. Focusing and zooming works just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, as I just posted in the Nikon sub forum, I did more google searches, and found in another Nikon forum, two posts where they're having the same problem with their D70's, so it's not the lens, it's the camera. Decided to just pack everything back up, take a hit on the shipping both ways, and return the tubes and DR-6 right angle viewfinder for a refund.
