Hello. I bought my first DSLR last summer which is a Nikon D5100 and have Nikon 18-55, Nikon 55-200, Nikon 50mm f/1.4, and the Tokina 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. I enjoy taking photos of wildlife mostly. I have been looking at the versatile lens like the nikon 18-200, 28-300, and 18-300 as well as similar lens of less expensive brands. I have also been thinking of getting something with a little larger focal length telephoto lens. I don't really want to spend more than $1000.

These are some lens i am considering.
-Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC Nikon-f
-Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 OS DC HSM
-Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM APO Nikon-f
-Nikon Nikkor AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
-Nikon Nikkor AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
-Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC Lens

What do you all think i should do? Are there any other lens you would recommend?

How come no afs 70-300 mm VR? From you list, this would be the best budget choice IMO

I have a D51000 and the Sigma 18-250 since last summer. Nice, convenient but not the sharpest lens ever, mostly above 135, although photos are overall nice. Also a bit bulky at first, then you get used to it. I then got a €200 35/1.8 (prime, but inexpensive and basic) and difference is huge. I was thinking to buy a dedicated telezoom, sharper than mine, and a better normal zoom (Sigma 17-70 or alike), but I'm learning to stop down the lens for better performance and I'm kind of giving a second try to my Sigma as only walkaround lens, so money will first go to a Macro lens. (by the way, does your Tokina autofocus ok on D5100?)

My advice, forget the Sigma 18-250 (and probably any superzoom) for telephoto usage.

I'd recommend a dedicated telephoto as those suggested, 120-400 or even 150-500 at or around €1.000
If more on a budget, Nikon or Tamron 70-300 are both in my shortlist, although not tried any, real experience only with my Sigma 18-250
