I would like to know how to avoid this in the future. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This was shot at iso 200 50mm f3.5 1/160

It's not that noisy! But you could shoot with a larger aperture or lower the shutterspeed and use a tripod or something like that. Also, you could buy yourself a cheap light reflector to use as a fill light for these kind of pictures.

Yes, more light = less higher ISO = less noise. But then again, if you shoot an underexposed picture with low iso and therefore have to bump up the exposure dramatically in photoshop, you'll end up with a noisy picture.

My recommendation would be to learn how and when to use fill flash, and how the three different metering modes work, the pros and cons of each, and when to use them. Either or both could have prevented that underexposure.

I have this Walmart.com: Canon Sunpak DF3000 Flash: Digital Cameras
Would this work as a fill flash... I know it is very inexpensive and may be garbage, but I thought I would give it a try as I have never experimented with flash
