Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I downloaded a portable version of PS CS4 and tried to install it on my computer, but I got errors on installation (it does not work) and now I'm having some computer issues. I'm asking here because I figured people in this forum may be knowledgeable about these things.

When I right click on a desktop icon, it opens the Windows Installer and tries to install Adobe Reader 9 which is already installed on my computer. I hit cancel, wait a few seconds and then the normal window/menu appears.

There is NO uninstall utility with the software and it does not populate in the add/remove programs under Control Panel. I deleted the folder where I saved it and rebooted the system but it's still doing it.

Any thoughts on how to fix this? I am not a happy camper. :grumpy:

This is probably not the correct forum to be asking questions about pirated software but photoshop portable is meant to be run off of a thumb drive (USB flash drive) hence the name portable. It doesn't need to be installed it is just supposed to work (from the thumb drive not your hard drive). If you are working on a windows computer try and right click on the icon and select run as administrator, it may help but no promises.

Have you tried searching adobe forums? Or the Internet? I was having issues with my cs5 and did a search and found the answer after a little bit.

Sorry I don't have the answer for you! Sucks when computers start acting up. Good luck!

Yes, KmH, I understand you feel the need to play "forum police" as you do it constantly and have been scolded for it before. Fact of the matter is I looked for another forum to post this in before parking it in the beginners forum as nothing else seemed appropriate. If you have nothing useful to add, then please add nothing.

Here, I will add some useful advice- stop pirating software.

LMAO. What I added was indeed useful.
Apparently, I often hold people to a higher standard than they hold themselves. I know that can make people uncomfortable, though I have their best interests at heart.

There is a forum section specificlly dedicated to Photoshop queries/discussions:

Graphics Programs and Photo Gallery
A place to show off your post processing skills, with explanations on how you achieved the results, including specialty images such as HDR. Share information and techniques using Adobe's Photoshop and other popular graphics software.

I'm sorry you can't figure things out for yourself.

Thanks for the link. I spent some time looking at this website trying to find an appropriate place to park my question. I am not familiar with the website other than the beginners forum which is the only place I have ever posted questions. I am new to the website and I don't have an exhaustive list of each forum--though I did look. I just want some help. And, for the record, I know nothing about portable PS or that it was pirated software--this is all completely new to me.
