Help with windows photo viewer

I've been searching all over the internet to fix this, but I can't seem to find anything. Basically, when I try to view photos on my computer, it looks really bad, mainly because it's wayy darker than what it looked like in lightroom and what it looks like on the internet/flickr. I tried going to color management and resetting to the default like other sites told me to, but it didn't help. does anyone else have this problem? thanks.

I just checked a few pictures using Photo Viewer, Picture Manager, Paint, Photo Gallery.
They look the same in each application.

Are you using the same computer to view the image with the various software ?
Can you provide examples ? link to flickr, upload an image, etc.

This is a common problem with windows photo viewer. The problems occur because it is an old program that has never been updated and only recognises color profiles that are written in the ICC Version 2 file format whereas most modern color management programs by default create profiles using the ICC Version 4 file format.
The solution is to either force your color management software to output color profiles in ICC Version 2 format or forget all about Windows Photo Viewer and get something that actually works with modern color profiling files.

Picassa is free and imo way better than Windows photo viewer. Also remember if a photo viewer will show a raw files (a lot don't) it may look pretty dim unless it's a dedicated raw converter also
