I've gotten my brother interested in photography, and he has been trying my 40D. I've tried to explain a little about the exposure triangle, but hinted that he should read up a bit himself, and then we can discuss it further.
As an entry level dslr, I'd advice him to get the 550D. Personally, I don't feel the extra money is worth the 600D. The only thing would be a bit more added weight and that it's a bit bigger. Perhaps one day he might benefit from the turny screen, but he'll get around it.
Anyway, I'd also advice him to just buy the body and get the 50mm f/1.8. It's cheaper, and a better solution for a started, imo. I only own the 50mm, and learning to compose by moving closer / moving away is pedagogic, I believe. Also, that lens isn't very hungry of the light.
Just to start, that's what I'd recommend him. I'd like to see him go Canon, so we can share lenses when that day comes, haha
Does this sound logical?
