Second one is nice. I'm uncomfortable with the first because of the awkward foreshortening of her right leg.

Huh....I didn't see any foreshortening...i prefer #1 over #2, because of the pose...

I like the first. I don't mind the dof making the leg out of focus. Kinda leads you (well me) in.

Thank you! ...... I'm not of the '100% of subject in focus' school of portrait photography either. I think eyes are important, but I like the way a softer focus on extremities can create a leading effect.

I agree with that. I'm not a portrait photographer so can only comment on my opinion as apposed to the technical wrights and wrongs.

You are correct, for portrait photography, you want the eyes to be sharp. If the rest of the body goes out of focus, then it is your artistic right.

Nice images, I agree with Derrel, that I like #1 better than #2 but a lovely subject none the less.
