Majeed.... this is not really doing it for me! Foreground is so dark, there is no real detail (Can't see the "sand").. and there is no "House".. but many houses, none of which stand out. The bright lights are almost painful... the background is busy... no real subject

Majeed, I'm going to (somewhat) echo Charlie's opinion. The orangish glow looks more like smog to me, and the strip of water (horizontal part at the middle) seems to be an open sewer. At least, that is how the image forms itself to me. The foreground is sand, but without your saying so, I'd see it as wet dirt. I know you have a lot of very beautiful images, but this one seems to show itself as a grungy kind of place. If your goal was to convert it into such a place, then I think you've succeeded brilliantly. If not, well, that's how the image appears to me.

I like this but I think the image is hurt by three things: the amount of foreground is a bit much as it doesn't have much interest once you've seen a bit, the water looks tilted and being shown against a white background makes the darkness of it just seem uggh.

I tried rotating a bit, cropping to emphasize the lateral lines and placing it on a dark background.

Thanks for your re-work. I do agree that viewing against white isn't the greatest. The image was electronically leveled at the scene in camera. The appearance of the tilt is from the receding water lines of the low tide.

This scene was a 56 second exposure with three or four 1/2 power flashes to light paint the foreground. I really liked the golden hues in the water and in the fog. I had quite a bit of room in the RAW, so based on suggestions I've been given here, here is my re-work.

I'm going to go against the tide and say I like this one. I think the darkness of the foreground adds to a sense of distance in the photograph. It's an image of longing...like being outcast from a place that the promise of is better then the reality.

Yay for darkness...that's what I say.
