Houston Brook Falls

So I went back to this place since last time I went it was high water and I couldn't do much. This time albeit way hotter is was much easier to get around.

You might be able to take a little off the left side. I know you're trying to use the rockwall to frame the waterfall but there is just too much empty space over there.
Overall, I still like the first one the best! Nice set, sexy!

The first and second feel more balanced.

In the first one, the lines of the rocks lead the eye towards the middle, where it sees the stream go off towards the bottom of the frame, and that feels natural because it follows the water. In the second one, the eye follows the water again, but the foreground rocks keep the image anchored.

For me, the last one is not as balanced as the first two. I know the picture itself is not tilted but I keep wanting to tilt my head a little to the left. There's more water on the left so I notice it first, then comes the line of rocks leading towards the right of the frame and also "points" to the bright spot at the top of the pool, right of the frame; then you're pulled to the other bright spot and foreground rock in the bottom right. In a different picture, this might not be a problem, but for this image, it feels a little unnatural because the eye is not being led on the same path as the water is taking. The reflection of the heavier side of the falls helps, but only after I tilt my head

Thank you for the feedback. I wish I had used my polarizer to knock down some of that glare. I totally agree with the flow.

Agreed. I was hoping to make it further back but the terrain didn't allow for it.

HUGE fan of the set as a whole but the first especially. I've tried my hand at some waterfalls shots and have never been able to get the water that milky. The third, as you say, would have benefitted a lot from a polarizer but its definitely my second fav.

If you're looking for a different approach I always enjoy shooting water at high speeds to get some really nice definition on the drops. Maybe get closer to the actual falling water with a nice, fast lens and get some water falling with a shallower depth of field. Just my two cents. Great stuff though!

Thanks. This is in the north woods. Its about 4 hrs north of Portland.
