Walked into the local brick-n-mortar store last week and was immediately greeted with this blast from the past. I hadn't seen a 'baseball bat' for 30 years! I mentioned it, and the guy pulled it out of the case. Handing it to me, I noticed the $11.oo price tag and commented on it.

He said, "If you can use it.......... take it............... Oh, and here's the 2x teleconverter.............."

So I had to dig around to find my M42 to Nikon adapter. Found it yestiddy.

If you know what these are, that means you're older'n dirt.

Wow, fun!
That thing looks like it belongs on a pirate ship

I have one of those, and they are not so useless as some thing.
Same with my Russian 500mm macro.

Lucky dog!! What a deal.

I had the 400mm version as a kid on my old Miranda... actually produced some decent-ish images in bright light.

Yes, Spiratone used to sell a 400 mm F/6.3 and a 500 mm
F/8. I own a 500 mm F8 baseball bat, which I bought for about 90 bucks back in 2006 or so. The minimum focused distance is around 35 feet, so it is really no good for close-ups, but then again,it is 500 mm.

For when you really have to reach out there :)

I went to a mirror, cuz the "stove pipe" was a hassle to carry and use.
