Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hey All,

I just started shooting in RAW, and am not sure what program I should use to upload these photos. Any suggestions?

To view and edit it? Use the program that comes with your camera.

Either that or plug your camera in, go to my computer, double click your camera and your RAW files will show. Then just copy and paste them wherever you want them.

I use FastStone Image Viewer. It's free.

To get them onto my computer I drag and drop from the memory card.

To get them online I use Lightroom 3.

Canon DPP or PS ACR to convert, depending on what I think will work best for the image. PS has a download utility that actually gets the photos from the camera. DPP has one also, but PS seems to have taken over as the default downloader on my machine. It doesn't matter how you transfer the raw files (as long as you can find them).

Thanks everyone. I know this might be a amateur thing, but I usually use iPhoto, and am used to the photo files all being in one location and easy to view. So, I'd like a program like that.

Right now, I'm just copying and pasting the RAW files to a folder, so I don't loose them. iPhoto seems to only upload the jpg files.

I use Lightroom 3 to import my RAW files from cards to machine; Filed, organized and ready to work with.

Use a card reader. Take the memory card out of the camera and put it in the card reader to upload to your computer.

When you upload is a good time to batch add keywords and metadata templates.

GREAT! Thanks for the responses. I think I might look into lightroom when I have the chance. Are there free trials at all?
