Not really. Its a step back. Now a 20D would be, but a 10D, not so much.

And you can't use EF-S lenses with it, which would be your 18-55...

If you are looking for a used camera body, the 20D or 30D would be a much better choice.

i think B&H still sell the 30D new for about 700, definately worth considering.

10D was my first DSLR and it still keeps my cousin (also a good photographer with years of experience) happy. Good camera albeit a bit outdated. If the deal is VERY good, I'd go for it.
