How is she doing this? Photographing my artwork

I am no expert by any means, but you mentioned it came out grainy with your scanner. Have you tried scanning it and using a noise reducer? Along with some editing to spruce it up? I dunno....I am not good with a scanner....mine come out grainy too, but thought something like noise ninja might help???

Funny enough we do talk from time to time but it can take a while to get a response from her. Thought I might as well ask here as well and see if I could get some general advice on photographing artwork.

This is sooo funny! I just looked at her forum and the artist JUST asked for advice on the same subject! Apparently she has friends that take care of this for her. Some people photograph and some scan!!! What an insane coincidence that she would ask a question on the same subject and I posted HER work here for said question!!!!

IMO, the photography aspect of it really doesn't seem to have all that much to do with the difference.

But, a very good resource for learning the fundamentals of lighting both things and people is - Light Science and Magic, Fourth Edition: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting

It is scanned. A friend of mine does this. When scanned it comes out in a very sharp green hue. It's pretty impressive, but I don't know enough to go into detail. I'll ask him about it next time I see him though.

I talked to my friend about it last night. He does his drawings with charcoal. He scan's his drawing, but he scans it in color so the charcoal scans in this incredibly sharp, green hue that looks amazing. I have several of his drawings framed in my house.
