Close but you've missed his/her eye :(
With animals and insects one of the "rules" that is very very hard to break is having the eyes in the shot in focus - especially so with mammalian creatures - we look to the eyes almost indistinctly and in many wildlife shots its the eyes that are carrying a great amount of the shots overall effect.

So in your example above we've got some interesting details in the fur, but those eyes are blurry - with that angle of shot the nearside eye really needs to be in focus ( the farside can slip into out of focus without too much trouble).

So my first question is how did you focus this shot?

second shot still has the eye just slipping out of focus :(

thanks very much.. i really do not know how i focused this shot but i do understand everything you said... i will from now on look at both eyes.. and concentrate on them when i focus... here is a couple pics from outside today... one picture is over done for sure but i love the uniqueness of it.. the other is an action shot and then one is just a head shot.. what do you think.. the reason i want to know is i only have a few days to make up my mind about this new lens.. 18-270mm by tamron.. i know i am a beginner so i need some expertise from you..
