How long? Quite a while, I should think.

"Car" and "carriage" or "buggy" are already different terms and serve to separate the two quite nicely. Not much danger of getting an Amish buggy confused with a motor vehicle. Oh, and at least in the U.S., it IS still the Department of MOTOR Vehicles...

There are no such separate terms for a film SLR camera versus a digital one. So my guess is that the term DSLR will be used to delineate the two for as long as people are still using their film cameras.

I've never found it all that difficult a description, though. But then, I also still say "watch" for a regular one with hands, and "digital watch" for one with the little time display.

You can call it a "little magical electronic black box that records images" if you want, but the rest of us will continue to call it a DSLR because that's the convention.

By the way, the image sensor and most other sensors in a 'digital' camera are analog devices, and not digital sensors.

That will never happen. Even if all the manufacturers quit making film camera today, referring to DSLRs as SLRs will still be confusing.
