how to click using a telescopic sight?

i have the following requirements, and am faced with the challenges/obstacles lister below-1have to shoot subjects, at 200 metres and beyond, 2cannot carry large telephoto lenses like the nikon 600mm,since weight and portability is an issue. 3. have access to telescopic sights, hence the question arises can i put a telescopic sight infront of my d3x or d700 using an adaptor or a barrell which would help in clicking the picture. 4 or if any one has tried using some other contraption for clicking pictures at such adistance. i am open to any suggestions.thanks in anticipation<strong></strong><br><br>

For a long telephoto lens to be compact, It's not going to let in much light, maybe F8 if you're lucky.

Honestly, the first thing that popped into my head was a mirror lens. You can get an 800mm F/8 Mirror lens on Ebay for $240, but I wouldn't count on it being very sharp, and it's manual focus only.

thanks for the link. very useful... will try to arrange the stuff by this weekend... suprising though since nikon is a manufacturer and i got in touch with them, they could not provide me with any links etc, even though it was to their benefit.
