Made the background from a white sheet and some blue dye, used a 420ex flash handheld camera left through a sheet of wax paper bounced off left wall.

Did the makeup and skin smoothing in PS.

I like the lighting - not crazy about the background but that's just my taste... Did you have the camera on a tripod?

Actually the lighting isn't too bad. I like it! background not though.

The camera and flash were handheld as my tripod doesn't come in till some time this week.

I wanted the background to be a little less tie dye looking but it was my first one so I will try a different technique when making the next.

How does the PP look? Too fake?

I wouldn't want to see so much highlight on her ear.

The shadow caused by the right collar is a bit strong.

I would like to see the catchlight a bit higher in the eyes.

Although I do not think the background pattern works all that well for portraits, I gotta say it looks pretty cool.

IMHO, the skin smoothing is excessive. That said, if that's the look you're going for, I would clone out some of the flyaway hair fuzzies by her ear.
