great. another forum for me to check obsessively thru the day
picked up my first SLR in 1982 (mom's Pentax ME Super) and haven't looked back since. i have that rig along with the one i got a couple yrs later for my 15th birthday and still shoot with them on occasion. have some great glass to go with- esp. the Kiron-made Vivatars
mostly i shoot with a 60D i just upgraded to after 6 yrs with an XTI. i get a bang out of sports photography, landscapes, portraiture and photojournalism. i have been published in AAA's "Northern New England Journeys" and do some freelance work for NHPR.com during the election seasons and sometimes for bigger stories happening on "The Seacoast" near Portsmouth, NH (a town hall mtg on healthcare with the president a few yrs back as an example). my father has been a member of WHNPA as a film/video/digital editor (and the 1st editor to receive a lifetime achievement award) since the mid-70's, so i tend to get a bang out of those assignments
a few yrs back i caught the bug from David Hobby and have a nice budget kit with a couple strobes, some umbrellas, stands and a Westcott Apollo
i haven't done much poking around yet, but i'm hoping to learn some things about shooting with a recently acquired, minty fresh Yashica A TLR i scored from an uncle
to head off the "pix or it didn't happen" crowd, i'll share a few
here's a couple random shots from Fenway Park
the Sox new mgr, John Farrell, when he was pitching coach doing speed drills with George Kottaras who was catching for knuckleballer Tim Wakefield that season
Dustin Pedroia taking a called strike from the Yankees' Mike Musina
random rain-delay shot
i really enjoy doing long exposures, too. this is Portsmouth Harbor Light House, on New Castle Island, NH (the streaks are a lobster boat coming into port)
here's some of the work i've done for NHPR.org-
Senator-elect Jeanne Shaheen taking the stage for her victory speech in Manchester, NH-
President Clinton at a campaign rally for Shaheen 2 days prior to the election at the Rochester Opera House, Rochester, NH-
Vice-Presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin at a rally at Dover High School, Dover, NH
Vice-Presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden speaks at a rally at the VFW in Rochester, NH
President Obama speaks at a healthcare townhall meeting at Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth NH-
and one more that i really like from a cold December morning here in Portsmouth
thanks for looking
