Hyperfocus 500mm Lens

Some more testing revealed that this particular lens is a case of bad sample variation. The focus ring is out of line with the distance marks. An object 25 ft away is not sharp until the ring is rotated to the 30 ft mark. the difference is even larger at longer distances.
I returned the lens for a replacement.

Perhaps you need a "spacer ring set" such as 12mm, 25mm, 40mm spacers. You can stack them to get alternate sizes between the camera and lens.

As I mentioned, the lens has a sample variation problem with the focusing mechanism.
I have returned it and received the replacement yesterday afternoon. I will test the replacement sometime today, time permitting.

What??

The difference in lens extension between focusing at 25 ft and 30 ft is only about 6 mm.

What are you talking about? No DOF? That would equal no image. You make no sense at all.

Shot with my 500mm.

No DoF ... thaz what I wrote cuz its real.

Your theoretical correctness is of no PRACTICAL value, as evidenced by your really nice landscape example photo.

What are you talking about. No DOF equals no image.
Please provide som evidence to back up your outlandish statements.
Bye the way the practical DOF in this image is about 2KM.

At infinity focus its a zillion miles (~1.7 zillion KM).
But so what ? In real world use, no DoF.
