I didn't get a sunset

While my trip was lacking in sunset opportunities, I did get manage to get these shots on the ferry ride. The first one was taken on the ride back and the second one on the ride over.

Do we get to guess shapes in the clouds in the first one? I see a terrier lying on a magic carpet flying into the sky?

Should I call a therapist? haha.

If you see a terrier, possibly. But then I couldn't find any, so maybe I need to see a therapist. The focus was supposed to be the sun rays, but they didn't show up as well as I had hoped and my editing skills are severely lacking. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what makes one persons picture serene and another's boring.

Personally, I think a lot of "serene vs. boring" is personal preference. But, with the first image, to me, the cloud formation in the middle is what takes away any serenity. If that weren't there, or if it were parallel to all the other clouds, it would be much more serene to me.

That said, (1) I don't find it boring and (2) in my opinion, the sun rays don't come through as being the main subject.

I wonder what the result would be for the first one, if you could put a graduated filter (software) on the sky and increase the contrast? Just curious, as I am a cloud person and these do look a bit interesting, at least to me.

I will look up how to do that later today (busy morning). If it will make the clouds look more enhanced, I'm all for it. I'm just not sure how to do that yet, but I'll figure it out. Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if many people were actually offering critiques anymore. I've gotten very little feedback lately.

I will look up how to do that later today (busy morning). If it will make the clouds look more enhanced, I'm all for it. I'm just not sure how to do that yet, but I'll figure it out. Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if many people were actually offering critiques anymore. I've gotten very little feedback lately.

To be honest, I am not sure if I can see any difference in this one and the initial post. Not to worry, my comment was just a suggestion and maybe it will work for some cases and not so well for others.

I noticed that you have a couple of ships on the horizon on the left side of the image. I would clone those out, if for no other reason than to maintain the flat integrity of the horizon, but that is just me, I am very fussy with my images. :biggrin-93:

Or it may be that I just don't know what I am doing, lol. The ships I can fix though. Thanks for the suggestions.
