I have acquired a clean Vivitar 80 to 200mm.Lens.Plan to do Outdoor medium range( 40 to 150 yards ) wildlife photos. Will the Lens I have work with a Pentax P 3. I believe the Camera can be used Auto or Manual. My other choice is the venerable Pentax K1000.I will not be shooting a large number of shots.I have already checked into the cost of film and development.Thanx. If this is the wrong spot...sorry.My mistake..

Vivitar lenses were made with many different camera mounts. Your K-1000 uses Pentax K-mount lenses. The P3 uses Pentaz KA-mount lenses for all modes but can be used in manual mode with the plain K-mount lenses.

K mount lens, as long as it has aperture ring, can always be used in manual mode. If on the aperture ring you will see letter A beside stop numbers, lens is made for auto exposure mode.
