I just can't leave the tulips alone

I liked the first image, as-shown. I thought this was the single best-conceptualized, best-presented photo I have seen shown on TPF in quite some time. It was the best amolitor photo I have ever seen. It would have been utterly predictable to center the vase and tulips and shoot it "straight", but you took a very high road. And owned it!

Daaaang, thanks Derrel!

I was looking for a specifically chinese-painting feel, hence the very vertical feel, the openness, and the painterly textures. I'd like to say I pre-visualized it entirely, but all I really had was the framing going in. The rest is feeling my way through the editing process. I *did* shoot it on 4x5 as well, and have a salt-printing kit coming from B&H, so I am looking forward to that take on it as well!

Thanks to all, though, I think some of the crops are also fine images. The background gradient could certainly be smoother, and doing a good job of masking the background out and creating a sleeker background would, in my opinion, be yet another fine image. None of them are the image I had in mind, but I don't mean to detract from those ideas.
