Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
So here's a project I'm working on right now for work. We are doing a story on this guy who is well known around town but no one really knows much about him. This is a fairly early version of the multimedia piece that will accompany the print/online story. We still have a couple interviews to do and a couple days to spend with him, so some of this will be changed around. We haven't decided on a final title for the vid or what clip we want to open with. I preferred my original opening(the bit that comes immediately after the title), but my editor in chief thinks it's "too hard." He wants a "soft" opening like the one at the beginning of this vid(the cig and walking the bike-it will probably change to him picking up newspapers to deliver).

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy what I have so far. Some of the audio and cuts are a bit rough, but will be cleaned up for the final version.

Wow, Dan...not only is the story inspiring, but your photography is as well. Gives me some new ideas, and a lot more to think about when doing portraits...

Good stuff, man.

Thanks, Kenny. I'm just glad someone watched, haha. The forum doesn't seem to like video, no matter how much it has to do with photojournalism. It's only had a couple views.

The original version was just with him and the church, which I liked more. It was difficult adding in the clips/photos at his dad's house. Hopefully cover his paper route, which is another big aspect of his life, won't ruin the flow too much.

Very nice. I just think that the same wide angle may not have been appropriate in some of the shots. I feel that you were relying too much on that one lens.

I really like the sound track. It's amazing how fitting it is. It tells the story, the irony of such confident tunes coming from a confused man. I do wish the ending is more sophisticated. Right now it just kinda left it hanging without a proper full stop. May be end with a scene when he lay his fingers to rest?

I would have liked a full stop too, but unfortunately he didn't give me one. He just abruptly stopped playing in a weird spot, and because I was recording I couldn't tell him to have a smooth finish.. And that probably won't be the final ending. My editor wants it to be circular, so despite my wanting it to have a similar but more refined ending, it will probably have something with him riding away on his bike.

And I do agree with the wide shots. I have more shots I can use, but it's hard to get a lot of a variety from a guy who's just sitting in one spot slumped over not doing anything. I do have a little b-roll here and there left over I can use.

Any shots in particular you think I should pull?

I will take that into consideration. Thanks, Cow.

I think I might also go into one of the Sunday services he plays. I think it would be a good transition from him playing alone, talking about not connecting with people, to him playing in a church full of people. Thoughts on that?
